Always on the Move
Agassizii Corydoras are gentle, social bottom dwellers with a surprising amount of energy. While they share the peaceful nature Corys are known for, these guys tend to be a bit more active and busy, constantly cruising the bottom of the tank and checking everything out. Like all Corydoras, they do best in groups of six or more, and when kept together you’ll really see their lively, curious personalities shine.
Because Agassizii Corys are such enthusiastic foragers, a soft, sandy substrate is especially important for them. They spend much of their time sifting through the sand with their sensitive barbels in search of food, and rough gravel can cause irritation over time. Their activity level means they appreciate a well-maintained environment where they can stay healthy and comfortable.
A happy Agassizii Cory setup includes plenty of open sand for movement, along with plants or décor that break up the space and offer places to dart through or rest. They thrive in peaceful community tanks with calm tankmates, gentle lighting, and low to moderate flow. When their environment feels right, Agassizii Corys are confident, social, and endlessly entertaining to watch as they zip along the bottom of the tank.

Life Among the Roots
Agassizii Corydoras move quickly through the spaces between plant roots, driftwood, and open sand, making full use of every inch of the tank floor. In nature, Corydoras are often found in plant-rich environments where roots and debris create natural pathways to explore, and recreating that layout in the aquarium suits Agassizii Corys especially well. A mix of rooted plants for structure and open sandy areas for movement gives them the freedom to stay active while still feeling secure.
