A Little R&R to Start the Week
Since this is our first post, we thought we’d keep it simple and share a quick snapshot of what’s going on around here right now. Roots & Ripples is all about growth in real time – plants, fish, and everything in between, so this felt like the perfect place to start.
Here’s what’s been catching our attention lately.
A Plant in Rehab – We’ve got a rehab plant on our hands right now. It’s a Yellow Marilyn Philodendron that we bought as a plug that hated the transition from high to low humidity. We’ve kept it in our mini greenhouse and she’s starting to come around, but it’s a process.
Fry Tank Energy – The fry tanks have been busy! OB peacock fry and mbuna fry are growing out nicely, and they’re officially in that stage where you can see changes almost daily. Tiny fins, bigger personalities, and lots of movement, there’s always something happening when you stop and watch for a minute.
A Surprise from the Planted Tank – One of our favorite little wins recently came from the planted tank. Our Anubias plant has sprouted what looks like a bloom, and if you know Anubias, you know that’s not something you see every day. It was a total surprise and a really cool reminder that when conditions are right, plants will do their thing … sometimes in unexpected ways.
One Thing We’re Learning – PATIENCE. Things have a way of working themselves out, and with both plants and fish, patience isn’t an option, it’s a requirement. You can set things up well and show up consistently, but the real growth happens on its own time.
That’s what’s growing around here, for now. More roots, more ripples soon.
